Managing the Organizational Structure

The organizational structure represents your company's organizational setup.

You build the hierarchy as a tree in the Organizational Structure section of the Organization page: organizational units on several levels, each with owners, deputies and members. If the structure is maintained from Innovator, you can view it here but not change it.

Prerequisites

You are a user of the process space.

To make changes, the following also applies: you are a BPM Manager, and Bpanda does not show the note “The hierarchy of your organizational structure can only be edited in Innovator.”

What is managed in the organizational structure

In the organizational structure, you map the hierarchy of your company’s organizational units. You can assign users to each unit as owners, deputies or members. You can describe and translate the delegated tasks and competencies of an organizational unit.

Organizational roles that are required can be assigned to an organizational unit.

In addition to the hierarchical relationships between higher-level and lower-level organizational units, other directed and undirected relationship types can be defined. Likewise, types of organizational units (e.g. department, group) and roles (e.g. manager) can be defined.

A Process Owner or BPM Manager can assign organizational units to a process as Process Participants, either to a specific lane or to the process as a whole. You do this on the process page under ⋮ Roles and Permissions in the Process Participants section. This is how you record, for example, that a unit carries out the tasks of a lane. The employees of the unit then find the process under Relevant Processes. See Appointing Process Participants for Multiple Process Revisions.

You edit the organizational structure in the Organizational Structure section of the Organization page.

Renaming, describing, opening linked processes and linking to roles apply equally to units and roles and are described under Edit Units and Roles.
