Managing Organizational Roles
Organizational roles are used to designate specific competencies and functions within organizational units.
Organizational roles are independent of the function-related roles in Bpanda (BPM Manager, Designer, Process Owner, etc.): they state which competency is required in an organizational unit. Roles can be marked as external. Role types can group the organizational roles.
Prerequisites
You are a user of the Process Space.
The following also applies for making changes: you are a BPM Manager, and Bpanda does not display the note “The hierarchy of your organizational structure can only be edited in Innovator.”
What is managed for organizational roles
In addition to the function-related roles managed in Bpanda (BPM Manager, Designer, Process Owner, etc.), independent organizational roles can be used when managing the organization in Bpanda.
Organizational roles are used to designate specific competencies and functions within organizational units. Role types can group these roles.
Organizational units in which a role is required can be assigned to an organizational role.
A Process Owner or BPM Manager can assign organizational roles to a process as Process Participants, either to a specific lane or to the process as a whole. You do this on the process page under ⋮ Roles and Permissions in the Process Participants section. This is how you record, for example, that a role carries out the tasks of a lane. The employees of the role then find the process under Relevant Processes. See Appointing Process Participants for Multiple Process Revisions.
You edit the organizational roles in the Organizational Roles section of the Organization page.
- Creating an Organizational Role — create a new role and assign a type to it.
- Selecting Employees to Execute a Role — determine the users who fill the role.
- Deleting an Organizational Role — remove a role from the organization.
Renaming, describing, opening linked processes and linking to units apply equally to roles and units and are described under Editing Units and Roles.
