Restoring Users Marked for Deletion
If users or groups disappear from your directory, account management does not delete them immediately but marks them instead — you can restore them until the delete time expires.
If a user, a group or a group membership is no longer present when synchronizing with your directory, the entry first appears in the Marked for deletion section. This way, nobody is lost immediately because of an error in the directory.
Prerequisites
You are an Account Manager of your account.
Context
The Marked for deletion section is at the bottom of the Account tab. Each row shows Name, Type, Action (User Deleted, Group Deleted or Group Members Removed), Members, Initiator and Date.
Two time periods control what happens to the marked entries. They are shown above the table:
- Warn Time (Days) — this many days after being marked, all Account Managers receive an e-mail listing the marked entries and the day on which they will be deleted.
- Delete Account Users after (Days) — this many days after being marked, account management deletes the entries automatically.
You change both time periods using the edit icon next to the name of your account, dialog Edit Account. If Delete Account Users after (Days) is set to 0, entries are deleted immediately, without being marked.
If an entry has been marked by mistake, the cause is usually in the directory. Restore it and check there why it was missing — with Microsoft Entra ID, for example, whether the user is still assigned to the Bpanda app. See Checking User Synchronization with Entra ID.
How to Proceed
-
Open account management, see Managing an Account.
-
In the Marked for deletion section, select the checkbox of the entries you want to process.
-
To keep the entries, click Restore and confirm.
The marking disappears, and the user, group or membership is retained.
-
To delete the entries immediately instead of waiting for the delete time to expire, click Delete Permanently and confirm.
The Perform deletion dialog lists what will be deleted. The procedure cannot be undone.
Note: The section also appears in the German account management with English labels: Marked for deletion (Zum Löschen markiert), Warning Time (Days) and Delete Account Users after (Days) (the two time periods), Restore (Wiederherstellen) and Delete Permanently (Permanent löschen).
