Questions from Designers
What tasks Designers have and the ways in which processes enter the Process Space and are updated there.
The Designer supports the BPM Manager in creating and updating the Process Space by importing or uploading the process diagrams. The Designer is also the specialist for the integrated Modeler and is responsible for designing processes.
Designers have access to all versions of all processes.
What are my tasks as a Designer?
The Designer role applies to the entire Process Space, not to individual processes. An Account Manager assigns it in the account management, see Appointing Process Designers and BPM Managers.
What this role is allowed to do is described in Roles and Authorizations.
How are processes imported and updated?
In principle, process versions can initially be made available in the Process Space in the following ways:
- importing BPMN diagrams from any modeling tool as a BPMN file
- uploading processes from Innovator with the Innovator Connector
- creating a draft in Bpanda and submitting it as a process revision. There are three forms of draft: a process sketch with name, description and attachments if applicable; a happy path, that is, a task list with assignment to responsibility areas (lanes) from which the diagram is created automatically; or a process diagram in the integrated Modeler.
Drafts are created by Designers and BPM Managers. Process Owners can also create a draft, but can only maintain the name, description, attachments and architecture relations in it. They cannot adjust the diagram.
To update a process from a modeling tool, you import the amended version again as a BPMN file. Processes from Innovator are uploaded with the Innovator Connector; it automatically assigns the new version to its predecessor.
If the process version was created with the Modeler, the Designer can also edit it in the Modeler for updating and submit it as a process revision. See Create Process Drafts.
