Navigating the Process with the Guide

You can use the Guide to navigate through the process diagram step-by-step and it shows you the description of process elements and explains process icons.

Prerequisites

Using the Guide to go through a process diagram step-by-step takes process steps which exist directly in the diagram into consideration. Steps in embedded subprocesses are ignored.

Context

The Guide jumps you to the next or previous process step. There are various next steps you can select after a gateway or task. You can also jump to the start event or end event.

The following information appears for each step reached.

You can change the  display size or  diagram size to fit the window to the section window. You cannot change the size of the section window itself.

Navigating through the process uses icons you will recognize from a remote control. They also work similarly to this.

 To the next step, selection may be required

 To the last step (end event), selection may be required

How to proceed

  1. Click on the Guide tab if you are in another tab on the process page.

    The Guide marks the first step in the process flow; this is normally a start event. The name, type, description, process participants and the next step are shown for the process step.

  2. Click on or to change the display size.

    The diagram is increased or decreased in size by one zoom level in the section window.

  3. Click on to resize the diagram to fit the section window.

    The diagram is resized to fit the section window.

  4. Click on the respective button below the section window to jump to the first, previous, one of the next or the last element.

    If there is more than one next step or end event possible, then select the one you want.

    The element is shown and marked in the section window.
