Linking an Area Element with a Process

You can select an area element in the process map and select the process' hierarchy element you want to link to it from the assigned processes in a dialog.

Prerequisites

You are BPM Manager.

Context

The process hierarchy structure is used for grouping processes into targeted navigation.

A hierarchy element's area elements in the lowest level of the process map are linked with respective processes.

You can use the hierarchy elements in the individual levels of the process hierarchy to get to a hierarchy element on the lowest level and from there to the assigned or linked processes.

How to proceed

  1. Click on  Edit Links next to the process map that should be linked.

The area elements that can be linked are shown. Area elements that are linked and those that are not linked are shown in different colors.

  2. Select an element to link it.

The dialog for linking area elements appears.

  3. Deactivate the Current Level Only check box if you also want to be able to link processes which are not assigned to the hierarchy element.

All hierarchy elements and processes assigned to the hierarchy element and all processes which have not yet been assigned yet are listed.

  4. Click on the process you want to link.

    The element is highlighted.

  5. Click on Create Link.

The SVG graphic's area element is linked with the selected process and highlighted.

A miniature view of the process appears if you position the mouse pointer over the area element.

  6. Repeat the steps from step 2 to link further area elements.

  7. Click on next to the process map to finishing linking the process map.

The process map appears in its normal colors again.
