Creating Process Maps

As BPM Manager, you can use the integrated process map editor to create process maps.

Prerequisites

You are BPM Manager.

Context

You can use the process map editor to easily edit process maps.

A saved process map draft can still be found under "My Drafts" after you have submitted it, so that you can always use it as a template for other process maps.

Your process map draft will not be visible to others until you submit it and, in doing so, add it to the process hierarchy. This means you can design it however you want to start with and save it as a "private" design.

The Process Map Editor contains the following user areas:

How to proceed

  1. Select  Go to Process Map in the Process Landscape for a new, saved hierarchy element and click in the Process Map tab on Open Process Map Editor.

This way immediately assigns the existing process map to the hierarchy element.

    The process map editor appears.

  2. Click on  Create New draft in the Process Maps tab under  Drafts.

You must then assign it to a hierarchy element.

    The process map editor appears.

  1. To add an area element, drag an area icon in the left toolbar and drop it on free position.

    The element is created.

  2. To label an area element, click on the text icon in the left toolbar, drag it to the area element you want to label and click to create the label and enter a text.

    The area element is labeled.

  3. To group area and text elements to be moved at the same time, select them and click on Group selected objects.

  4. To edit a text element, select it, open the Properties and edit it.

  5. To save the draft, click on  Save Draft in the toolbar at the top.

The draft is saved with the name you entered. It appears on the Drafts page.

  6. To save the diagram as an SVG or a PNG file, click on the graphic type you want in the  Export Process Map submenu in the toolbar at the top.

The draft is saved in the standard directory for downloads.

  7. To add the draft as a process map in the process hierarchy, click on Submit at the top.

The Submit as process map dialog appears.

  8. To submit the process map, select the hierarchy element you want to assign it to and click on Submit.

The draft is submitted as a process map for the hierarchy element. This process map can be edited again as a draft.
