A group bundles account users. If you give a group a license or make it the group of Process Designers, this applies to every member — including every member who joins later.

:::note[With Microsoft Entra ID]
If your account is connected to Microsoft Entra ID, you maintain groups and their members there, not in the account management. The groups come across by themselves; here you only assign licenses and permissions to them. See [Setting up Microsoft Entra ID](/en/technical-documentation/microsoft-entra-id).
:::

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You are an **Account Manager** of your account.

The future members are account users, see [Creating and Managing Account Users](/en/settings/manage-account/manage-account-users).

## Context [#context]

Groups are the recommended way to distribute licenses and permissions. Whoever joins the group immediately has everything the group has; whoever leaves it loses it again. This means you do not have to maintain several places when someone changes roles.

The groups of your account are listed in the **Groups** section on the **Account** tab; the search field searches by name.

## How to Proceed [#how-to-proceed]

1. Open the account management, see [Managing the Account](/en/settings/manage-account).
2. In the **Groups** section, click the edit icon.

   The **Create New Group** dialog appears.
3. Enter the **Name of the Group**.
4. Under **Select Members of the Group**, select the members by activating their selection field. The search field searches e-mail address, last name, first name, status and licenses.
5. If every account user is to be a member, including every future one, activate **Automatically Add All Users to Group** instead.
6. Click **Add**.

   The group is listed in the **Groups** section.

Afterwards you give the group a license, see [Assigning Licenses](/en/settings/manage-account/assign-licenses), or make it the group of Process Designers, see [Defining Process Designers and BPM Managers](/en/settings/manage-account/process-designers-and-bpm-managers).
