Deleting a Risk or Opportunity

Deleting a risk or opportunity — only possible as long as the entry does not come from an earlier risk analysis; otherwise the way to go is to mark it as obsolete.

Deletion takes place irretrievably and without a confirmation prompt. An entry that has been carried over from an earlier analysis, on the other hand, cannot be deleted at all — instead, you mark it as obsolete.

Prerequisites

You must be responsible for the process.

You have added a risk or opportunity to a process or a process element.

The risk or opportunity does not come from an earlier risk analysis. Carried-over entries cannot be deleted — see below.

Context

The risk or opportunity is deleted irretrievably without a confirmation prompt.

Risks and opportunities are recorded and changed via the Risk Analyses. You can therefore only delete what was created in the current analysis. Everything that comes from an earlier, published analysis belongs to its history and remains — for this, there is the way via Mark as obsolete.

The assignment of a risk or opportunity is lost, for example, if the corresponding process element no longer exists after a review.

How to Proceed

  1. Select the process or process element whose risk or opportunity you want to delete.

The risks and opportunities recorded for it so far are listed.

  2. Click the risk or opportunity you want to delete.

    The details are expanded.

  3. To delete the risk or opportunity, select ⋮ Delete.

The risk or opportunity is deleted irretrievably without a confirmation prompt.

Marking a Carried-Over Risk as Obsolete

A risk or opportunity that has been carried over from an earlier analysis cannot be deleted: in the ⋮ menu, Mark as obsolete appears in place of Delete. This lets you flag the entry as no longer applicable without removing it and its history.

Remove obsolete marking at the same place undoes the flag.

A carried-over entry disappears from your ongoing work in two steps:

  1. In the current analysis, you mark it as obsolete and publish the analysis in this state.
  2. In the following analysis, Bpanda no longer carries it over. In the analysis you published with the marking, it is retained.
