You define the goal, end date, participants and owners in full before the review starts; the participants are then notified automatically. The end date is for information purposes only — a review is ended by the decision of the **Review Owner**, see [Ending a Review](/en/processes/release-process/end-review).

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You are a **Process Owner** or **BPM Manager**.

For a review in the approval process, you are on the process page of an imported or submitted process version (revision) for which the approval process has been started.

## Context [#context]

When creating a review, the **Process Owner** defines the goal, end date, participants and owners of the review. These definitions must be made in full.

The description should inform all **Review Participants** about the goal and focal points of the review.

The end date of the review is for information purposes only and has no automatic effect.

Participants are notified automatically. They can submit comments (feedback) on the entire process or on individual process elements, as well as a final evaluation of the process version.

Bpanda initially enters you yourself as **Review Owner**. If there has already been a review for the process, Bpanda suggests its owners and participants. You can define additional or different **Review Owners**.

Note: If an approval process provides for several consecutive reviews, you can only create the next review once the previous one has ended and the approval process has reached the next review. The search field and the **Only selected** check box appear if there are more than ten entries.

## How to proceed [#how-to-proceed]

1. If you are on a different tab of the process page, click the **Overview** tab.

The page content of the tab is displayed.
2. To define the review settings, click ⋮ **Create review**.

The **Create review for process** dialog appears.
3. Enter a description of the goal and focal points of the review.
4. Click in the date field and set the end date of the review in the calendar dialog, or click one of the period buttons.
5. To add or remove participants, click the edit icon.

The dialog of the same name appears.
6. Select **Select individual users** or **Select participants via organizational units**.
7. To search for a user by name or e-mail address, enter a corresponding character string in the search field.

The list is restricted to the matching entries.
8. To define a user as a Review Participant, select the check box.
9. To display all current **Review Participants**, select the **Only selected** check box.

The current **Review Participants** are displayed.
10. To confirm the current **Review Participants**, click **Apply selection**.

The applied **Review Participants** are listed.
11. To add or remove **Review Owners**, click the edit icon in the **Review owners** section, select the users and click **Apply selection**.

The applied **Review Owners** are listed.
12. To confirm the definitions, click **Start review**.

If your definitions make you a **Review Participant** or **Review Owner**, the **review area** opens next to the process page; otherwise, a message about missing rights appears and you can return to the process page with **Back**.

All participants and owners are notified of their assignment to the review.

## Creating a Review for a Published Version [#creating-a-review-for-a-published-version]

You can also submit a version that has already been published, is valid or is upcoming to a review — in order to check whether it needs to be changed or is affected by other changes.

Prerequisite: You are a **Process Owner** or **BPM Manager**, and no review is running for the version.

1. On the process page, click ⋮ **Create review**.

The **Create review for process** dialog appears.
2. Enter a description of the goal and focal points of the review.
3. Click in the date field and set the end date of the review in the calendar dialog, or click one of the period buttons.
4. To add or remove participants, click the edit icon, select **Select individual users** or **Select participants via organizational units**, select the check boxes of the users and click **Apply selection**.
5. To add or remove **Review Owners**, click the edit icon in the **Review owners** section, select the users and click **Apply selection**.
6. To confirm the definitions, click **Start review**.
