Deleting is only possible as long as the type is not in use anywhere. If it is still assigned, Bpanda names the organizational units or roles that use it and requires you to remove it there first.

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You meet the prerequisites from [Defining organization and role types](/en/organization/set-types).

You are on the **Define Types** page.

A type can only be deleted if it is not in use.

You cannot delete the last type of organizational units or the last role type, because every unit and every role needs a type.

## Context [#context]

Attempting to delete a type of organizational units, relations between organizational units or roles that is in use results in a message about the use of the type.

## How to proceed [#how-to-proceed]

1. In the row of the type, click **Delete** in the ⋮ **submenu**.

   The confirmation prompt for deleting appears.
2. To delete the type, click **Delete**.

   The dialog closes.

   The type is no longer available.
