A relationship is created on the organizational unit's page in the **Relationships to Other Organizational Units** section. It connects units that are not superordinate or subordinate to each other and always uses a relationship type.

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You meet the prerequisites described in [Managing the Organizational Structure](/en/organization/manage-org-structure).

You are on the **Organization** page.

At least one relationship type has been created. See [Creating an Organization, Relationship or Role Type](/en/organization/set-types/create-organization-or-role-type).

## Context [#context]

A relationship always uses a relationship type. The type determines whether the relationship is directed or undirected and what it is called in each direction.

If no more relationship types are available, Bpanda displays the message: **There are no further relationship types that can be added to this organizational unit.**

## How to Proceed [#how-to-proceed]

1. In the organizational structure, click the organizational unit.

The organizational unit's page appears on the right.
2. To add a relationship, click the plus icon next to the section heading **Relationships to Other Organizational Units**.

The **Add New Relationship** dialog appears.
3. Select the relationship type and the organizational unit that the relationship is to be established with.

If the relationship already exists, Bpanda displays the message **Relationship already assigned**.
4. To confirm the changes, click **OK**.

The relationship appears in the **Relationships to Other Organizational Units** section.
5. To change an existing relationship, click **Edit** in the **Submenu** in its row.
6. To remove a relationship, click **Delete** in the **Submenu** in its row and confirm the **Delete Relationship** prompt.

The relationship is no longer available.
