Employees are not created anew: they are the users of the Process Space that you assign to an organizational unit or an organizational role. For how they get into the Process Space, see [Inviting Users to the Process Space](/en/settings/manage-process-space/inviting-users).

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You are a user of the Process Space.

To make changes, the following also applies: you are a **BPM Manager**, and Bpanda does not display the note "The hierarchy of your organizational structure can only be edited in Innovator."

## How Employees Are Managed [#how-employees-are-managed]

Bpanda users can be assigned to organizational units and organizational roles on the **Organization** page. They are then managed as employees of the organization.

A **Process Owner** or **BPM Manager** can assign organizational units and organizational roles to a process as Process Participants, either to a specific lane or to the process as a whole. You do this on the process page under ⋮ **Roles and Permissions** in the **Process Participants** section. This is how you record, for example, that a unit carries out the tasks of a lane. The employees of the unit or role then find the process under **Relevant Processes**. See [Appointing Participants for Multiple Process Revisions](/en/processes/manage-processes/appointing-process-participants-for-multiple-processes).

You edit the assignments in the **Employees** section of the **Organization** page. It contains the **Assigned Organizational Roles** and **Assigned Organizational Units** pages.

- [Assigning Organizational Roles to an Employee](/en/organization/manage-employees/assigned-org-roles) — on the **Assigned Organizational Roles** page.
- [Assigning Organizational Units to an Employee](/en/organization/manage-employees/assigned-org-units) — on the **Assigned Organizational Units** page.
