Whoever creates a review — that is, a **Process Owner** or **BPM Manager** — is initially the **Review Owner** themselves and can define additional or different ones. The **Review Owner** is the contact person for all **Review Participants**. As long as the review is running, they change owners and participants via **Manage Review**.

The **Review Owner** decides on the release when completing the review. The released revision is then published by the **Process Owner** or a **BPM Manager**.

## What are my tasks as a Review Owner? [#what-are-my-tasks-as-a-review-owner]

What this role is permitted to do is described in [Roles and Authorizations](/en/getting-started/roles-and-authorizations).

## What do I need to know as a Review Owner about the release process? [#what-do-i-need-to-know-as-a-review-owner-about-the-release-process]

Before publication, every process version goes through a release process. Its basic elements are the **review** with comments and a final rating, the release of the revision, and the publication. A revision can also be discarded. MID sets up the sequence of the release process when creating the Process Space so that everyone works according to the same approach.

See [Reviews](/en/reviews) and [Releasing and publishing processes](/en/processes/release-process).
