You do not change anything on the published element itself: every change goes through a draft that you then publish again.

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

You are a **BPM Manager** or **Designer** — or you are entered as the **Owner** of this architecture element.

**Architecture elements of the type Business Process cannot be edited here.** They belong to their process and are maintained on the process page.

## Editing architecture elements that exist as drafts [#editing-architecture-elements-that-exist-as-drafts]

Architecture elements that exist as drafts can be edited under **Architecture** on the **Drafts** tab. To do so, click the relevant architecture element. The draft window opens.

## Editing architecture elements that have already been published [#editing-architecture-elements-that-have-already-been-published]

Architecture elements that have already been published can be edited as a new draft.

### How to proceed [#how-to-proceed]

1. Select **Architecture**.
2. Select the **Published** tab.
3. Select the architecture element you want to edit.
4. In the ⋮ **three-dot menu**, select the **Edit as new draft** entry.

The architecture element is created as a draft again and the draft window opens.

If a draft already exists for the element, the entry is called **Open existing draft** instead.

## What you can change in the draft [#what-you-can-change-in-the-draft]

The draft window has four sections:

- **Description** — formatted text about the architecture element.
- **Owners** — users, groups, organizational units and organizational roles responsible for the element.
- **Properties** — the properties of the element type, grouped as in the model.
- **Linked architecture elements** — the element's relations with relation type and direction. See [Linked architecture elements and relation types](/en/architecture/manage-linked-architecture-elements).

At the top of the draft you will find **Publish** and — if the Process Space has at least two content languages — the translate icon. It opens the **Translate architecture element** dialog, in which you translate the element's text properties that already have a value, in two columns.

## Changing name and type [#changing-name-and-type]

In the draft, you can use the pencil icon next to the name to open the **Edit name and type of architecture element** dialog. The types that are activated in your Process Space are available for selection.

**Note**: Changing the type leaves existing relations unchanged — which can make them invalid. See [Linked architecture elements and relation types](/en/architecture/manage-linked-architecture-elements).

## Hiding an architecture element [#hiding-an-architecture-element]

On the page of a published architecture element, select the **Hide architecture element** entry in the ⋮ **three-dot menu**. Hidden elements appear neither in the lists nor in the evaluations; you can make them visible using the **Show hidden** switch. In the same way, you can bring them back with **Show architecture element**.

**Business processes follow their process.** They cannot be hidden and shown individually — if you hide the process, its architecture element disappears as well.

## Discarding a draft [#discarding-a-draft]

On the **Drafts** tab, you discard a draft using the recycle bin icon in the row. Bpanda asks for confirmation with **Delete draft**; along with the draft, all changes it contains compared to the published version are lost.
